With the sermons of this Lent I would like to continue in the effort, begun in Advent, bring a small contribution in view of the re-evangelization of the secularized West, which is right now the main concern of the whole Church and especially Pope Benedict XVI.
There is one area in which secularization is acting in a particularly pernicious and widespread, and is the area of love. The secularization of love is to detach human love, in all its forms, from God, reducing it to something purely "secular" in which God is "too much" and indeed disturbing.
But the theme of love is not only important for evangelization, that is, in its relations with the world; it is also, and above all, to the internal life of the Church, for the sanctification of its members. It is the perspective in which you place the encyclical technika drivers "Deus technika drivers Caritas Est," the Holy Father Benedict XVI and where we fit ourselves in these reflections.
The love is suffering from a fateful separation not only in the minds of the secular world, but also from the other side, among the believers, and in particular between the consecrated souls. Oversimplification, we could formulate the situation in the world we find an eros without agape; between believers are often agape without eros.
Eros without agape love is a romantic, passionate and more often, to violence. A love of conquest which inevitably reduces the other to the subject of his own pleasure and ignores every dimension of sacrifice, loyalty and self-giving. There is no need to insist in the description of this love because it is a reality that we have on a daily basis under the eyes, as it is propagated in a pounding from novels, technika drivers movies, television dramas, internet, magazines called "pink." This is what the common language means, now, with the word "love."
More useful for us to understand what is meant by agape without eros. In music there is a distinction that can help us to get an idea: that between the hot jazz and cool jazz. I read somewhere this characterization of the two genres, although I know that is not the only possible one. The jazz hot (hot) is a jazz aficionado, ardent, expressive, made up of impulses, feelings and then wheelies and original technika drivers improvisations. The cool jazz (cool) is what you get when you go to professionalism: the feelings become repetitive, inspiration is replaced by the technical virtuosity to spontaneity, it works most of the head of that heart.
According to this distinction, the agape without eros appears to us as a "cold love," a love "with the top of the hair," more for imposition of the will to intimate that surge of the heart; dive into a preconceived mold, rather than crearsene one of your own unique, unrepeatable as is every human being before God acts of love directed to God look like, in this case, than some unwary who write love letters to the beloved d ' love copied by a special handbook.
If worldly love is a body without technika drivers a soul, love is practiced as a religious body without a soul. The human being is not an angel, that is a pure spirit; body and soul is substantially technika drivers united. Everything he does, including love, must reflect this structure. technika drivers If the component linked to emotion and heart, is systematically denied or repressed, the outcome will be twofold: either you pull forward wearily, and a sense of duty to defend its image, or you seek compensation more or less legal, until the painful circumstances that we know well. At the bottom of many moral deviations technika drivers of consecrated souls, you can not ignore, there is a distorted and twisted conception of love.
We therefore have a twofold reason and a double urgency to rediscover love in its original unity. True love is full and a pearl enclosed within two shells that are eros and agape. You can not separate these two dimensions of love without destroying it, as you can not separate between their hydrogen and oxygen without thereby depriving himself of water.
The reconciliation between the two most important dimensions of love is to practice that takes place in people's lives, but because it is made possible, it is necessary to begin with the reconcile between their eros and agape, technika drivers even theoretically, in doctrine. technika drivers This will enable us, among other things to finally know what is meant by these two terms so often used and misunderstood.
The importance of this issue stems from the fact that there is a work that has made it popular technika drivers all over the Christian world the thesis oppost
