As I mentioned in an article about deploying windows with Compiz, rc mig 29 I collected quite a long time to try out some of tile (unless it goes without tiling) window manager, ie. Program that selects rc mig 29 the size and position of windows - by ensuring that they do not overlap and effectively used the space. Deterred me, however simplistic applications available - albeit very many operations are made from the console, however, I appreciate the opportunity to click an icon on the toolbar or run anything from the menu.
A few months rc mig 29 ago I discovered an interesting attempt to compromise - Bluetile. It is a branch xmonad adapted to work on Gnome. Bluetile manages workspace available screen but leaves the top and bottom Gnome panel with menus, icons and applets, also adds to their own bar with buttons for the most important operations.
I used Bluetile together - the two approaches - the dozen or so days. For lasting change trains have not decided but the experience I found interesting and people seeking comfort on the desktop encourage a similar experiment. Something in it. Installation rc mig 29
Bluetile is not yet packaged in Ubuntu but the installation is not difficult. This is done by Cabal Install haskellowego or equivalent tools such as Perl or Python easy_install cpan (xmonad and Bluetile are written in Haskell). A previously requires poinstalowania group of standard packages.
A set of necessary tools and libraries gathered by doing: rc mig 29 $ sudo apt-get install build-essential checkinstall \ libghc6-network-dev libghc6-parsec-dev libghc6-mtl-dev rc mig 29 \ libghc6-zlib-dev libghc6-glade-dev libghc6-gtk-dev \ libghc6-gtk-dev rc mig 29 libghc6-time-dev rc mig 29 \ ghc6
In Ubuntu rc mig 29 Karmic download from the site file cabal-install (currently the latest version is 0.8.2): $ wget http://haskell.org/cabal/release/cabal-install-0.8.2/cabal-install-0.8.2 tar.gz $ tar xzvf cabal-install-0.8.2.tar $ cd cabal-install-0.8.2 /
due to the lack of library time (which, as it was not difficult to guess, I found the package libghc6-time-dev). After doinstalowaniu deficiencies repeated bootstrap (which behave intelligently, ie. Used already downloaded packages and resumed work from the place where the interrupted action). Configuring the Cabala

The starting off Compiz and zastępił it as a window manager (among other things meant the other, but uglier, title bars and a farewell to the compizowymi abbreviations and effects), flashed his own bar on the left side of the screen and presented the welcome window. All panels Gnome remain active, active windows were moved to one - the first - desktop.
A mode is simply a lack tiling, windows may overlap, their location is controlled with the mouse (mode especially useful when using programs that - like Gimp with its plethora of auxiliary windows - particularly badly react to the imposed system),
I used mainly for switching the keys A, S, D and F of the bar Bluetile (intuitive because the bear icons illustrating the selected window layout) are an alternative shortcut Win-a,-s Win, Win-Win-d and f (with the Win-s I did not work, captured by Gnome, which wyświetlało logout window).
Of course, immediately appeared a need for determining which window is the main and how
