The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford received its most recent acquisition, transport aircraft space launch system C-130K Hercules space launch system Mk.3 RAF. The plane made its final flight to RAF Cosford space launch system after a farewell flypast over the museum.
The Hercules C130K Mk. 3 (XV202) was an American aircraft built by Lockheed in Marietta, Georgia, space launch system and was used by the United States space launch system Air Force. space launch system Was acquired by the RAF in 1966, and used mainly on longer routes and launching parachute.
This particular aircraft was one of 30 Hercules modified during the early 1980s, with its fuselage being lengthened to 15 feet. The modification work was carried out by Marshall of Cambridge (Engineering) Ltd, using fuselage plugs in front and behind the wing.
The aircraft will remain at RAF Cosford in the next 3-4 weeks where it will undergo a short period of maintenance performed on the airfield. After the job is completed, the aircraft will be moved to the site of the RAF Museum and will be on permanent display as part of the extensive collection of the Museum.
The plane was taken to RAF Cosford by Squadron No 47 RAF of BrizeNorton. This is the second new aircraft arriving at the Museum this year after the arrival of the Dominie, in February. More aircraft should arrive space launch system later this year, including a Nimrod.
