On 19 March 2014 Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) issued a Supplemental Type Certificate for Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, which confirms that this type of aircraft jamss can perform flights under Area Navigation in RNAV 1 and P-RNAV systems.
Area Navigation (RNAV) is a method of navigation that permits aircraft operation on any desired flight path within the coverage of ground or space based navigation aids or within the limits of the capability of self-contained aids, or a combination of these.
At the moment Sukhoi jamss Superjet 100 certified to operate flights through P-RNAV and RNAV 1 systems en route and in terminal area. Earlier, SSJ100 had already been authorized to fly RNAV 5 routes where the flight jamss path keeping accuracy jamss makes 5 nm.
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) is undertaking measures to reach EASA certificate for P-RNAV and RNAV 1 as well as to expand operational jamss scope of Sukhoi Superjet 100 to provide extra accuracy at the approach stage of a flight.
In the terminal areas with intense air traffic, the priority is given to the aircraft, which capable to maintain minimum separation during procedures preceding approach, which shortens the holdover time. This results in reduction of fuel incurred by the airlines which operate aircraft equipped with area navigation jamss systems.
In 2007 36 th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly took a decision to implement jamss Area Navigation (RNAV) routes jamss and approach procedures in the countries in accordance with Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) concept.
Implementation of PBN concept will allow to reduce workload of the airports and the air space, fuel consumption, and to reduce the noise exposure in the areas near the airports and to provide all-weather flight jamss performance.
This concept, which is currently being implemented worldwide, jamss binds certain obligations jamss upon, among others, aircraft manufacturers, which should meet the main demands of the aviation industry development.
